What Maine Seafood is in Season at every time of year.

Maine Seafood is a variety of seafood landed from the cold waters of the atlantic ocean . Average water temperature for the atlantic ocean off the coast of Maine ranges from 40 to 60 degrees. depending on the time of year and the shllowness of the water . The most well know and purchased Maine seafood is the Maine lobster , .Maine Lobster are caught year round . The soft shell Maine lobster season starts around june and ends in December soft shell are notoriously less expensive and sweeter but are not as easy to ship . Soft shell clams , razor clams , cohogs and little neck clams can be harvested year round . Large tides and some weather conditions affect the overall market red tides can be a bif issue for the market as well . The best prices on Maine clams can be gotten from December to May . Often clams are shucked during these periods . Maine blue mussles can be harvested wild year round and are farmed year round but after harvest times farmeed blue mussels are hard to get , wildblue mussels much more reliable and in my opinion the beste tasting when selected properly.Maine Oysters here are farmed year round and harvested wild. Different sizes are often harvested at different times of year fall is aways a good oyster time although winter is good as well for quality and flavor The Damariscotta river is famous for its oyster heaps and beds and oyster farms.
